Wedding dress for the Fairy-godmother woodland queen

Jack and Kelly designed this beautiful artwork that they used for their invitations and wedding favors.

they wanted to carry the nautical and wildflower theme into their wedding attire. Jack bought a blue linen suit, for the ocean. Kelly wanted a green dress with wildflowers, for her love of the natural landscape.

After trying various dress options Kelly decided that she really wanted a custom dress. Something beautiful but simple. We started out by making a muslin mock up to figure out pattern and shape for her body.

Comfort was important, so we choose a hemp/silk blend that moved beautifully and lined it with a light cotton. Kelly decided to be subtle about adding green and selected a pale green tulle overlay.

Kelly and I spent some time designing the layout of the wildflower element and then I applied them as appliqués with a combination of free motion technique on the machine and hand stitching.

in addition to the wedding gown I also tailored Jack’s suit and added a few wildflower details

I also made three flower girl dresses. For Jack’s nieces I used his mother’s wedding dress and added some blue. On Kelly’s side I used left over pieces from her wedding dress, dyed green.
